Verizon confirmed Wednesday that an issue was affecting wireless voice and data services for customers, with more than 100,000 reports of an outage at its peak, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.

Over 1.5 million Verizon customers had reported outages, according to Downdetector, but by late Wednesday the company said service had been restored.

I’ve heard similar tales from friends who use TikTok – one who saw a video post that wasn’t visible to other users – and Down Detector shows a spike that started early on the morning of January 25, 2026.

TikTok attributed the user-reported significant interruptions on the app to a power outage at a US data center.
